Master in Adult Education and Community Development
Mai Ngo is originally from Ottawa and thrilled to join the CLC Canada
Team. She is currently a part-time Masters student in the Adult Education
and Community Development, and Comparative and International Education
Center at the University of Toronto. She believes vigorously in education
as a tool for empowerment, and has worked with street kids in Vietnam,
sex workers in Bangladesh, and youth in Canada on various engagement
levels. |

After completing an internship at an Animal Rehabilitation Center in Guatemala, Emiko Wong returned to Montreal and accepted the position of Veterinarian at the Montreal Biodome. |

SOLVEIG ROUTHIER |

Masters Degree in Law, Specialization in Crisis Management for Disaster Relief.
It has always been Solveig's dream to work in the field of humanitarian
aid. Solveig's first experience in this field was an internship in
Bangladesh where she developed management tools to mitigate disaster
situations. Solveig then continued her internship in Thailand where
she worked for a French NGO that supported Burmese refugees in Thailand.
Solveig had the opportunity to work for three months in this refugee
camp. Upon returning to Canada, she then put her patience and skills
to good use and after an intense job search landed a position in Chad
where she worked with Sudanese refugees. Her next assignment was in
Vietnam and focused on the Avian Flu. Currently, Solveig is in Ethiopia
where she is working for a British NGO. |

After an internship for fourth months in Bolivia (we always told her this was too short of a trip!) Christine returned to Quebec in early 2007. Christine is currently working for Club 2/3 - Oxfam Quebec, focusing on their environmental education and sustainable development programs which will be implemented in universities throughout the province in 2007. |

Perhaps you will recognize Philippe from Radio World which was on
air during the springtime of 2007 on Radio-Canada. Philippe was one
of four reporters who had the once in a lifetime opportunity to travel
across the world and report about it. He is one of Horizon Cosmopolite's
original interns who worked at a local community radio station in
Benin called "Radio des Collines". |

Multidisciplinary Bachelor's Degree
Stephane is passionate about writing and literature. He was a part of a team of collaborators who wrote the "Petit Fute" travel guide for western Canada. In addition, Stephane worked for the same editors and penned the Guide to Quebec Beers. In 2004, Stephane travelled to Benin and had the opportunity to work for a number of different projects. After discovering Africa, Stephane returned to Canada inspired and full of great ideas. He was eager to begin developing audio, video and written reports on a wide range of subjects. He received a CIDA grant and is now writing reports for Radio Canada International and "Muv Media." Frederic could be described as a jack of all trades. After having worked in the construction and trucking industry, Frederic discovered his passion for communications and video. At this point, Frederic decided to participate in a Horizon Cosmpolite Internship in Senegal and Mali. He worked at Radio Dakar and produced news segments in both Senegal and Mali. This internship was a starting point for Frederic. He now works as a director and film editor for a video production company in Repentigny. |

After working for Horizon Cosmpolite for several years as the communications coordinator, Fabienne departed for Latin America in order to create video reports on the Horizon Cosmpolite internship programs. After this experience, Fabienne returned home to edit and produce four films in addition to also directing an educational video about returning home to Canada after an international experience. Fabienne now works at station TV5 as webmaster and was recently promoted to video director and film editor. |

Her most recent internship was in Quito, Ecuador with the Canadian/Ecuadorian Chambers of Commerce. This position gave her the opportunity to meet a variety of entrepreneurs. Currently Jacinthe is living in Ecuador and working for a Canadian company that specializes in mining exploration. |

Bio-Medical Doctor
Following a health internship in Kenya with Horizon Cosmopolite, Reza
decided to work in the field of humanitarian aid. After the Tsunami
in South East Asia, Reza headed off to Sri Lanka. While working with
a French NGO, she developed an expertise in public health and access
to safe drinking water. After this experience, Reza was appointed
director of an aid program in Pakistan which provides assistance to
victims of the 2005 earthquake. Reza completed her Doctorate in Bio-Medicine
and is currently working as a Head of Programs in Central African
Republic. |

After returning from Bangladesh and completing an internship in the HIV/AIDS Prevention Programme among Street-Based Sex Workers unit, Sonali began working at Vanier College as their International Projects Officer. Sonali is responsible for the Engagement of Youth in Sub-Saharan Africa project at the CEGEP and is also organising a trip to Malawi for the project. |

Valerie participated in a very unique internship which took place at an elephant sanctuary in Sri Lanka. She played a supporting role in the development of paper fabricated from elephant fecal matter. As of right now, she works in Ottawa for the Canadian Ministry of Agriculture and the Agri-Food Industry. Valerie's position at the Ministry is Development Agent and she is responsible for the International Market in Asia. |

After this internship, he returned to Canada only for a brief period before moving back to the Galapagos Islands and working for the foundation for two more years. Without a doubt, Christian's work will have a significant impact on the preservation of this unique and fragile environment. |

Artist, Acrobat
HorizonCosmopolite worked in collaboration with the organization
Cirque du Monde for two years. Three interns had the opportunity to
work with a partner from Cirque du Monde in South Africa. The work
consisted of both organizing and animating circus workshops with youth
from underprivileged areas. Jade worked with this organization for
six months. When she returned to Canada, the job offers were piling
up. Jade participates in tours across the world and to be honest we
can't keep up with her schedule!

Megan left Canada in 2005 in order to work with the Canadian/Ecuadorian Chambers of Commerce in Quito. It turns out that Megan did not return to Canada after this internship. The Canadian Embassy offered her a job in the economic department and she has remained in Ecuador ever since. |
