Traditional Tribal Weaving Program
:Weaving is an ancient art form, which the Karen women have passed on from generation to generation, initially bringing it from their homeland. The designs are an expression of their culture. The colors of the cotton portray their land and where they live. The quality of a woman's weaving is a sign of how good a wife and mother she will be. A young girl is said to be a woman when she has mastered certain weaving methods. Learning this craft will instill the rhythm of the Karen in you as your fingers learn the delicate dance of weaving. Learning to weave is much more than learning a form of art; it is also a window to experiencing and better understanding the Karen culture.
