| Working in a Nutrition Office
|
The Tacloban nutrition office faces issues related to basic nutritional
needs (e.g. infant malnutrition) on a daily
basis, while involving communities in helping to diminish the number
of malnourished children. This government department oversees the
food intake of families in 138 local barangays and it monitors malnourished
children. Volunteers can organize educational classes on nutrition
for the families in the area. Participants can also contribute to
developing community and school vegetable gardens, and become involved
in various studies related to nutrition. Knowledge in the field of
nutrition is recommended for this placement.
