This project is open to women volunteers who are interested in providing
social support to young girls who are survivors of violence. The local
Peruvian organization provides a safe haven for the young girls who
have been physically and sexually abused. Currently, the organization
is assisting approximately 45 girls between the ages of 3 and 13.
The shelter is a secure environment for the girls to heal the past,
rebuild their lives and work towards developing a positive and healthy
future.
The volunteers will work closely with staff members from the shelter
and will have the opportunity to conduct activities that are in
line with their personal skills, experiences and interests. Volunteers
are encouraged to take part in a variety of educational and recreational
activities in addition to developing and implementing workshops.
Possible activities include: helping with homework, English lessons,
teaching computer skills, sports, music, dance, handicrafts and
workshops in sewing, weaving, painting etc.
By exuding affection, enthusiasm and dedication to your volunteer
work, you will help these young girls build self-confidence and
self-esteem.
