Work in a Centre for Street Children

With a population of 20 million, Mexico city is the second most populated city in the world afeter Tockyo with 33 milion. Thousands of children currently live and/or work in the streets. Poor living conditions, violence, drugs, and abuse are daily realities for these children. You have the possibility of working in a youth centre, which provides kids with an essential transitional step between street life and integrating into another centre where they are able to live permanently. The daycentre gives youth a certain structure in their daily life without imposing too many formal commitments. The role of the volunteers, with the support and supervision of the social workers, is to approach the street kids, engage them in activities. In addition volunteers provide them with support in their decision to join the permanent residential centre, where they will receive lodging, education, and meals
