Community Projects

The best way to gain hands on experience is by working on community development projects. This provides the opportunity for volunteers to integrate into the local culture. These projects offer volunteer work with various village groups including women in fish mongering, cassava processing women's groups, youth groups and other associations of vocational or professional workers, etc. The common goal of all of these groups is to bring about a positive change in their lives. Volunteers can get involved in community building projects like the construction of public toilets, libraries, social and information centres, etc. By participating in these projects volunteers will be asked to take part in various activities such as carrying blocks, mixing cement etc. It is often the case that volunteers enjoy this type of placement since they work very closely with community members

Minimum stay : 1 month

What's included: Pre-departure orientation session, accommodation with a host family, meals (2 meals per day on week day, 3 meals per day on the week-end), pick up airport and supervision.*
