Care and Support for Orphans Program, Support Program for Rural and Urban Educational Initiatives, General Health Support Program, Support Program for the Health of Mothers and Children, Development of Information and Communication Technology

These projects require a lot of intiative and resourfulness. As life in Burkina Faso is quite different from what you are used to here, your ability to adapt to a new environment will be essential. There is an urgent need for volunteers in many different fields as listed below.

Care and Support for Orphans Program
This program is open for interns who are interested in working with children in local orphanages. The program offers the opportunity to take care of infants and children who were abandoned or orphaned. Interns will collaborate with caretakers from the different orphanages. For the most part these orphanages are religiously affiliated and run by catholic nuns.

Support Program for Rural and Urban Educational Initiatives
This program is ideal for interns who would like to be involved with education initiatives in rural, semi-urban and urban environments. Interns will also have the opportunity to experience true everyday African realities. Volunteers will participate in teaching activities and support the local teachers. This will be an experience of a lifetime that will also provide you with practical skills. The program also seeks to broaden the horizons of local children through an interschool correspondence and sponsorship program.

General Health Support Program
The Health Support Program is open for interns who have a desire to work in the domain of health with local health professionals and thereby also gain valuable practical experience. The interns will work directly with patients, interns and doctors from various health centres in the country. The program is designed for volunteers who have a medical background or for anyone who is truly motivated and ready to make a serious investment in the field of health.

Support Program for the Health of Mothers and Children
This program is specifically for interns who are concerned about the health of mothers and children and would like to work in this field. The program does not require any previous experience or training, however, volunteers should be motivated and willing to take the initiative. Local professionals will assist the interns at all times. Interns will participate in outreach and awareness programs on family planning, general hygiene, water and food sanitation, HIV/AIDS and STD (sexually transmitted diseases). These outreach campaigns will take place at local health centers and within the local community.

Development of Information and Communication Technology
If you are interested in the field of information and communication technology then this is the program for you! Volunteers should be prepared to offer workshops in office automation, data processing, maintenance and internet applications. If they wish, volunteers can also help the association and its local partners to develop databases and assist any way they can in the development of these underprivileged communities.
