In our opinion it is absolutely essential that participants do not disrupt the local community where they will be staying. Every action and behaviour could have undesirable consequences for the host community and therefore we need to be conscious of our conduct. For this reason, all HorizonCosmopolite programs are developed with an emphasis on adaptation.
HorizonCosmopolite works with international partners in over twenty countries and we are therefore compassionate towards the realities of the developing world. Our organization offers support to these communities, such as sponsoring children in Benin and developing volunteer projects in local communities in the Philippines.
HorizonCosmopolite has for sale several products that are useful for future travellers. This permits participants to buy essential products at an affordable price and to purchase these travel goods all in the same place. The sale of these goods has also allowed us to implement a new program, for every Diva Cup and mosquito net that is sold, $2.50 is donated to Club 2/3 and $2.50 goes towards sponsoring an orphan in the Philippines.
Furthermore, we are conscious of the ecological footprint that HorizonCosmopolite is making on this Earth* because of all the travel associated with our programs. HorizonCosmopolite would like to minimize its ecological impact on the planet and for this reason we are financing a reforestation project that has been developed by a local organization in Indonesia. The goal of this program is to reforest an entire hectare of land. This program reduces our ecological footprint and also generates income for local community members. In addition to HorizonCosmopolite investing in international issues, we are also committed to issues here in Quebec. We are proud to participate every year, on a volunteer basis, in the International Solidarity Walk for Club 2/3. Through this event, thousands of youth join together to protest the injustice of the global economy and to demand a more equal distribution of the limited world resources.
HorizonCosmopolite believes that it is important to educate all participating groups on the concept of selling fair trade products as a fundraising tool.
