Expand
your horizons…
Have you ever wanted to learn more about the effect of globalization
on developping countries? See first-hand what it's like to live in
India, Thailand, Togo, Ecuador, or Costa Rica? Learn about organic
farming and natural medicinal plants? Work with monkeys and turtles
in a wildlife refuge? Experience cultures and customs different from
your own?
Discover the world in a different way |
HorizonCosmopolite is a Montreal-based organization that specializes
in organizing volunteer activities in over 30 countries around the
world. To date, many thousand of volunteers have participated in our
programs in Latin America, Asia, Africa and Europe. Over the past
few years, HorizonCosmopolite has developed long-lasting relationships
with its partners abroad and works in collaboration with the Youth
Employment Strategy through the Canadian International Development
Agency (CIDA), and Heritage Canada. Through these non-profit affiliations,
we are able to provide recent university graduates with their first
employment opportunity abroad in their field of study.
HorizonCosmopolite's mission is to develop a strong solidarity
between people of different countries and cultures. Through our
cultural immersion programs and volunteer work placements, we strive
to increase global awareness, to foster respect for the environment
and to provide the tools necessary for people to live harmoniously.
We believe that our programs are an excellent addition to formal
education and can instill in people the ability to contribute positively
to a world that is becoming increasingly interdependent.
HorizonCosmopolite also offers Cultural Immersion and International
Service Learning Programs to student groups and community organizations.
For postsecondary academic institutions, we offer international
programs specially geared to meet specific needs: internships credited
within a university program; group programs specifically adapted
to the field of study.
Whether it be in Benin to work in community health, in Greece to help
save the turtles, in Nepal and the Philippines to teach English, in
India to work with disabled children, in Ecuador to work on an organic
farm, or in Thailand to attend a traditional weaving course, our programs
always work with the objective of offering an educational experience
in which participants must adapt to the local realities, and not vice
versa.
Since 1999 HorizonCosmopolite has worked in partnership
with three federal ministries with the goal of developing programs
for professional youth who have recently graduated. These remunerated
programs offer youth their first overseas work experience in their
field of study.
HorizonCosmopolite also offers educational programs for
high school students, as well as specialized international programs
for postsecondary academic institutions. We offer them a variety
of international programs that match their specific needs: credited
internships for students in the framework of their university program
(medicine, nursing, social work, education...); group programs adapted
to the field of study; programs for dropouts, and more.
Why is HorizonCosmopolite different? We are a small private
business offering a multitude of international programs, of which
the majority allow the participants to chose the duration, the location,
and the kind of work they will do without restrictions regarding
age, nationality, and previous experience. Most of our programs
are available year-round to all who are motivated and interested
in a new, enriching, intercultural adventure!
If a private business with a social objective seems like a paradox
to you, let us show you what we do!!
