Stéfane Charette

Stéfane Charette has been promoting international cultural immersion for the past nine years, since 1997, although his interest in the field began much earlier. With a distinctively global outlook on life, he is committed to helping erode national boundaries. "As today's world becomes increasingly interdependent," explains Mr. Charette, "an experience abroad is essential for anybody who wants to succeed in a global environment".

He participated in the Canada World Youth program, going on exchange in British Columbia/India. Mr. Charette continue to be involved with the CWY organization and use the network it has provided as a basis for developing contacts across Canada.

Now that traveling has become easy and largely accessible, students are finding that it is as important a learning experience as the education they receive in their regular academic curriculum. It is precisely this line of thought that prompted Mr. Charette to spend a year studying in Turkey at the Middle East Technical University. "In a skills-based working world," explains Mr. Charette, "the ability to adapt to new circumstances and situations is an indispensable asset. Not only have my studies abroad sharpened my cultural integration skills but they have allowed me to build a solid foundation in cross-cultural relations".

M. Stéfane Charette has traveled to Central and South America, Europe, Alaska, West Africa and the Middle East on various volunteer projects. Graduated of UQAM in Political Science and International Relations, Stefane reside in Montreal and is active in his community. HorizonCosmopolite was found in 1997, and since that, the organization has been successfully expanding.
