| Working with Street Children in a Boy's Home |
The Center provides shelter for twelve street children. These children are not orphans, however the majority of the children come from broken homes. The children are driven to street life because of broken homes, drug and alcohol abuse, family violence, sexual abuse and abandonment.
Ultimately, the center helps children regain hope and find a new direction in life. The children make an honest effort to reintegrate into a more structured life that includes a respect for rules and values. Likewise, the center promotes the necessity of attending school and participating in workshops for personal and professional development. Under the supervision of social workers, the volunteers are invited to facilitate and assist the children with their daily activities. Volunteers are also encouraged to accompany the children during their appointments and supervise them during workshops.
