| Working with Youth in a Social Reintegration Program |
This youth centre accommodates approximately 70 young boys between the age of 15 and 18 years old, who want to move away from life on the streets. Through an educational and professional program, they have the opportunity to learn a trade as well as the necessary values and behaviors that will enable them to lead a more fulfilling life. In addition to running education and intervention programs for children, the centre manages a goat cheese production operation and an artisanal soap factory. The children and the volunteers take part in the tasks related to this production. The organization operates with the following underlying philosophy: the centre's activities and operations must reflect the elements and realities that children will encouter later as they become autonomous adults. Working and interacting with the community is therefore greatly valued.
